Our vision
To become the Church that God intends us to become as we learn what Christ commanded, using all the gifts He has given us because none of them is not for us.
Our mission
Preach
Where preaching means to encourage, exhort, admonish and teach God’s Word. The early church “were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching” (Acts 2:42) so preaching must have an important place within the church.
Fellowship
The early church “were continually devoting themselves to…fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). The Greek word is koinonia and means “to share in common”. We have fellowship with God through the Holy Spirit (2 Cor 13:14) and fellowship with one another (Acts 2:42). Part of the early church’s fellowship involved breaking bread and praying. Church is not one or two weekly meetings but meaningful relationships. These relationships are established in midweek cell groups.
Evangelise
We have been commissioned to go into all the world to preach the gospel to everyone. As a church we seek ways of evangelising our family, friends and community. And we want to be involved in evangelism in other parts of Australia and the world through missions.
Grow
Church leadership have a responsibility through their ministries to equip Believers as they serve God so that the Church mutually helps one another to grow and mature. Static Christianity is the sign of spiritual immaturity (Ephesians 4:7-13). Leadership labour for results.
Discover
Similar to the above, each person is a member of the body (Ephesians 4:16 and 1 Cor 12) (a “body part”) with a very specific function vital to the health and proper working of the body. At Open Door Christian Church we believe in encouraging and allowing ministries to develop and will do everything to help people discover what their Godly function is.
Cell groups
Whilst there is room for people to participate in the formal church services, the number that can participate is limited especially as a congregation grows. However cell groups held in homes is an ideal place where everyone can participate in a very meaningful way. The early church met in homes and we believe these home groups played an important part in the development believers and the church as a whole.
